Pros and cons of Filipina/American marriages.

Pros:

Many American men have good marriage with Filipina women. Filipina women, in general, seem to be quiet and conservative, well mannered and brought up with good family values. They have lived with far less than most of us here in America and family is of high importance to them. Even though they may be poor, they are rich in the love they have with family. I think it is like anyone anywhere, it all depends on the person you marry. I don't like to stereotype people since all countries have good and bad.

Cons:

The cost of long distance phone calls is very expensive. I spent $4,000 in one year.

Be prepared to have communication issues, misunderstandings, and difficulty adjusting to married life. Filipinas tend to take what you say in English for face value, sometimes misunderstand sayings or slang. Often they are too proud or embarassed to admit fault or ask questions if they do not understand what you say. Then mistakes happen or misunderstandings arise. As most foreigners, appreciation of the hard work it takes to be successful here is often misunderstood (many think life is easy here, when to the contrary, life is more expensive, fast paced and demanding)
